DEVIN

Projet Ongoing
ANSES

DEVIN project aims to resolve the problem of estimation and exposure in terms of specific absorption rate (SAR) in the event of a source being close to the body.

  • Project objectives

The DEVIN project aims, with the help of a mobile dosimeter, to solve the estimation problem of exposure in terms of specific absorption rate (SAR) in the case of a source close to the body and emitting at an unknown domain level. The smartphone scenario is chosen as it currently corresponds to the main source of exposure for the public at large.

Two separate objectives are being pursued:

    • Autonomously measuring the power actually emitted by the smartphone.
    • Estimating smartphone usage from radio data, in other words, the approximate position of the source relative to the body.

These two data points combined with an SAR table, power normalized and previously simulated for each usage, will provide the SAR estimate. The end objective is to show that the method for estimating SAR in the user’s daily activities in and out of doors is far more accurate (by several orders of magnitude) than with only a dosimeter.
